About HSS

The Hepatology Society of Somalia - Advancing Liver Health Through Excellence

Introduction

The Hepatology Society of Somalia (HSS) is a national professional organization that brings together hepatologists, gastroenterologists, internal medicine physicians, infectious disease experts, oncologists, and researchers dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of liver diseases in Somalia.

HSS functions as a specialized section within the Somali Society of Gastroenterology (SSG), uniting Somalia's limited but growing pool of liver experts under one collaborative platform.

In a country where viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma represent major causes of morbidity and mortality, the establishment of HSS marks a crucial step toward advancing hepatology education, clinical excellence, and public-health advocacy.
